Most people are just sheep following the herd, waiting for the market to tell them what to do. But back in 1936, a rogue group of Boston traders realized that the only way to dominate was to start writing the book. They banded together to form the Boston Securities Traders Association, driven by a vision to set the gold standard of the trading floor both in and out of the office. On January 29th of that year, at the historic Boston Stock Exchange, they formalized the BSTA.
Over the last 91+ years, we’ve turned Boston into our space. Not a single one of the 14 US recessions since 1936 has gotten in our way. We've gone from Edison's paper tape, watched the UNIVAC 1100 establish new frontiers, made our way through CRT Terminals, and survived countless OMS upgrade cycles. We host on the city's rooftops, stadiums, and harbors for lighthearted nights, mixing business with a good time. Our educational days start with discussions on the next generation of ETF's, Industry Veterans, and rousing clearinghouse mechanics over coffee & breakfast. We’ve conquered the fairways of both the North and South Shores for our annual country club getaway, with no room for error on the beverage carts, and no room for error in giving back via our charitable collaborations.
Today we hold the status as the oldest affiliate of the Security Traders Association (STA), representing 5,000+ members across the US, Canada, and Europe. But this isn't just history or matching the Sell Side with the Buy Side; it's the fulfilling playbook of relationship management and turning cold contacts into warm alliances that drive volume and beyond.
